Tehran is prepared to reinitiate nuclear negotiations with the United States as long as it is treated with "dignity" and "honor", Iran's top diplomat has stated.

Abbas Araghchi said solely negotiations worked, and revealed recent overtures had come from mediators to reopen discussions with the American leadership. He said Iran had zero secret atomic facilities, and Tehran was not yet able to authorize the UN nuclear inspectorate to inspect struck enrichment centers for safety concerns.

Walking a Challenging Path

Araghchi is navigating a complex path since Iran does not want appear to be acting from a position of disadvantage, and he emphatically stated that Iran had emerged more resilient defensively and emotionally from the joint assault on its enrichment centers in June.

He was addressing at a strategic meeting in Tehran where he reaffirmed that Iran had "a fundamental entitlement to enrich uranium on home soil that it will always maintain" – the key factor of the stalemate in the previous talks.

Earlier Discussions Suddenly Ended

The prior phases of talks between the United States and Iran were brought to an abrupt and hostile conclusion on 12 June when the Israeli government, with Washington's assistance, targeted Tehran's atomic facilities in a two-week conflict that concluded with the American leader declaring the sites had been obliterated. Following this, EU nations exercised their right to reinstate UN-wide sanctions, but Iran asserts they have not had a substantial consequence.

Perfect Agreement Offered

Iranian officials claimed they felt they had achieved a "perfect agreement" to the uranium processing matter in earlier negotiations, when it was settled an local partnership with American involvement could process nuclear material. Each party would have been able to declare success since local refinement would have persisted and the US could be certain that Iran's atomic project was entirely non-military.

It had not been agreed in the talks that Washington's technical specialists could function within Iranian territory, but that was a reasonable assumption of the cooperative offer. Representatives asserted three times they had secured an understanding with Trump's special envoy the American negotiator only for the deal to collapse due to "spoilers in Washington".

Current Position

Iranian officials stated the partnership proposal was now no longer available, but it seems highly likely the offer could be revived in some form if talks restart.

Trump recently claimed he had been getting signals that Iran sought to restart talks, but in private Iran's diplomats claim they are not yet obtaining clear proposals from America either straightforwardly or from key regional mediators, such as the Qatari government, the Egyptian leadership, the Omani authorities and Saudi Arabia. The Iranian foreign ministry has been accused of non-responsiveness in the wake of Trump's direct instinctive approach, but Iran states negotiations is not part of a show.

Negotiating Stance

In his address to the forum, intended to depict the US as a controlling nation that abuses the idea of global regulations, the foreign minister declared the two-week conflict showed the conflict could not be resolved by combat operations. He asserted the strikes began with a American requirement for an unconditional Iranian surrender and ended with an absolute demand for a halt to hostilities.

Iran is convinced the opening assaults from Tel Aviv were carried out with full US knowledge and collaboration, making trust difficult to restore.

Diplomacy Continues the Ultimate Solution

Araghchi stated: "Tehran was not the one that had fled dialogue; it was the United States and the western countries that had always sought to impose their demands during the discussions. Diplomacy can still be alive and continues the ultimate resolution to settle disputes, but its standards, guidelines and fundamentals must be followed."

"Provided that they speak to the Iranian people with the tone of dignity and respect, they will receive a response in the same language."

Restoration and Reconstruction

In what is portrayed by Iranian officials as the conflict of recovery and rebuilding, Araghchi claimed he was assured Iran's defence capabilities "have significantly improved than preceding 13 or 14 June of this year. Our entire military infrastructure have been rebuilt. We gained many lessons from this war; we have discovered our personal limitations and the vulnerabilities of the opponent."

He continued: "We effectively endured this engagement. Our nuclear technology, which they planned to destroy, stays intact. The facilities and equipment, if destroyed, will be restored; what is crucial is the will of the citizens of Tehran and then the unity of the country that they aimed at, but failed to destroy. The Iranian people have developed more powerful, more united, and more backing of the government and the country in the wake of this invasion."
